It's like stepping into a time machine and transporting back to the '90s!
How in the world is it possible to sell lunch specials for $5 and stay in business? In Santa Cruz? And yet they do!
Seriously, I don't think they've raised the prices in a decade or two.
It's certainly not the most amazing Chinese food you can find, but yet they have tons of options, and are vegetarian-friendly. I don't go often, but one kind server in particular always remembers I'm vegan and warns me about eggs in the egg drop soup, which I find charming ;)
Service is friendly and quick. They have their own free parking lot which always seems to have space and is a rare thing indeed in Santa Cruz these days. They are quick to come with a large carafe full of ice water.
I favor the eggplant and ask for the tofu to not be deep fried. The broccoli cashew dish is also a winner.
Tea or orange juice for $1, lunch specials for $5, I do believe it is impossible to eat cheaper in Santa Cruz than right here at Yan Flower. -

This place was not good at all,my orange chicken was sweeter than a grandma crossing a street in New York while knitting, the beef was tough like a old timberland boot, and my Arizona ice tea tasted like sugar in a can.i will say they was quick but from the kitchen I swore I could hear Asian tribal calls like"douyyyy"and"yeuhhhh".It was something funky going down in the kitchen.
Overall it was nasty but good service -

The Mongolian beef was tough
The soup was flavor less
Kum pow chicken tasted like sweet-and-sour chicken -

This review is for a Door Dash (delivery). When I ordered for a specific dish (Sesame Chicken) I searched for the shortest delivery time, which Yan Flower had at 25 minutes. After 1.5 hours and a call to the restaurant (blaming Door Dash for only giving them the order 15 minutes prior even though I received an immediate confirmation from the restaurant), I also called the delivery driver who said they gave my order to the wrong person. My food arrived cold and overcooked. I'm disappointed and would rather order from restaurants who can admit their mistakes.

Boy oh boy where do I begin. Are you hungry for a portion of food disgracefully too big? Well then this is the place for you. I was as I would describe "famished" and not even I could devour such a meal made for a king. Rice noodles and chicken to match all made this fine establishment a place to remember. I was beyond impressed.
The service and speed of our order and food coming out was fantastic with a great fortune cookie as well. Do not expect high quality but at then end of the day.. its Chinese food. Do you want a big portion of yummy food that will send you home ready for a 5 hour lie down? Come here and enjoy!
